THE LAST SUPPER
The last supper took place in Jerusalem the night before the death of Christ.
There are two suppers: The Passover supper and the Lords supper. The Lords supper was instituted at the close of the Passover supper. As Jews, Jesus and His disciples took part in the Celebration of the feast of Passover. On the day of unleavened bread, when the Passover lamp was to be sacrificed, Jesus instructed two of His disciples, Peter and John to prepare the feast for them. When they asked Him where they would prepare the feast, He told them to follow a man they would see him carrying a pot of water as they enter the city. They should ask the owner of the house for a place prepared for the master.
The disciples carried out the instruction and prepared a guest room for the Passover and later they assembled there. It was at this point that Jesus took the bread, blessed it and gave it to the disciples to eat saying “This is a cup of wine, blessed it and gave it to the disciples and said “This is my blood” drink. He told them I shall not drink with you again until I drink with you in the kingdom of God.
